I Want This Dog

Welcome to my hobby: scouring sites that list dogs for sale/adoption (which is basically a sale that might come with a body-cavity search, apparently--the rules are a bit strict, so I hear). Once in a while, I come across a beauty of a potential canine companion, like Queen Bee here. Seriously, that's the name they gave on the listing. She's a Shiba Inu mix, and I am in love with her.

This is where my hobby becomes a sort of self-flagellation: there is no way, not today, not a month from now, probably not six months from now, and a year is too far away to comprehend at the moment...there is no way that I, Tara, a single 32-and-11/12-year-old woman living and subsisting in Queens, can afford a pet. Nor do I think my pet-owning landlord would allow it.

So I torture myself.

Have you ever been on craigslist's pets community board? The number of dogs that are scheduled to die each day is a) staggering, and b) sad. I WANT TO HELP!!!

I found Queen Bee here on a site called lancasterpuppies.com, featuring listings of all sorts of breeds being sold in PA. I should be wary, seeing as how PA has a massive puppy farm problem. But I look anyway. I want to buy them ANYWAY. That might make me evil--or just irresponsible.

But LOOK AT HER. I would name her Foxtrot, or Mammajamma, or something equally adorable.

Anyway...that's where I'm at today, this 19th of April, as I sit back and realize that I haven't blogged all month. I'm making up for that this week.
